Outer Trunnion Valve Spheres

    The outer trunnion valve sphere means, the stem groove/ slot and the trunnion groove/ slot are protruding of the outer surface of the ball, it’s another common design of trunnion valve ball valves, but mostly it’s applied in high pressure ball valves with reduced bore.

    The blanks for outer trunnion valve sphere are made out from open die forging, it means made from bars, so will be much more machining work, besides, the upper protruded part with stem goove/ slot, and the lower protruded part with trunnion groove/ slot need more extra machining work, generally, the outer Trunnion Valve Balls with more complicated stem and trunnion designs and need more machining work, so the cost will be higher than inner trunnion type.

    The scope of application of the trunnion sphere:

    Chemical, petroleum, natural gas, metallurgy, and other industries and long-distance natural gas pipelines containing hydrogen sulfide media, many impurities, and serious corrosion. The three-part connection forged steel fixed sphere is to divide the valve body into three parts along the cross section perpendicular to the axis of the valve channel at the two valve seats, so that the forged steel fixed sphere is symmetrical along the center axis of the stem. The pipeline is mainly used to cut off, distribute and change the direction of medium flow.
